Meet Ken
Owner/President
Role: Owner/President of 5K Commercial Roofing LLC, which includes but is not limited to managing and assisting our sales team, production management and running the day-to-day activities.
Experience: With more than 35 years in the roofing industry, he began his career in 1990 as a summer laborer while attending college. He later stepped into a full‑time sales role, discovering how much he enjoyed meeting new people and helping customers solve problems. In August 2016, he founded 5K Commercial Roofing LLC.
Career Highlights: A standout moment in his career was securing materials and donating labor to install a new roof for a women’s shelter that was urgently in need of repairs.
Expertise: He takes pride in his attention to detail and his dedication to both employees and customers.
Motivation: He stays motivated by watching others grow and achieve their goals, along with working toward successful years that benefit the entire team.
Work at 5K: He remains committed to the company’s core values and to providing dependable roofing solutions while prioritizing safety for both employees and the community. This commitment supports a team culture built on honesty, integrity, professionalism, and empathy. He believes the company’s diverse group of people contributes to well‑rounded solutions for nearly any building concern. Company fishing trips to Canada and other remote locations also help strengthen team unity.
Advice to New Team Members: "The only stupid question is the one not asked"
Personal Interests: He enjoys boating, spending time at the lake with friends and family, and gardening. A fun twist: he also likes watching B‑rated horror movies. And when asked, cats or dogs? Dogs win.
Fun Fact: Favorite book is The Bible and enjoys self-help podcasts and books by Tony Robbins.
Meet Skip
Sales
Role:
Conducts inspections of existing commercial roofs and recommends tailored solutions. Also prepares estimates for new construction projects.
Experience:
Brings more than 40 years of commercial roofing experience. Began as a laborer, advanced to crew leader, and moved into sales in 1990. Has been part of the 5K Commercial Roofing team for nearly six years.
Career Highlights:
Received a national industry award for a historic renovation project in Cleveland, Ohio, which included roofing work across eight buildings.
Expertise:
Offers extensive knowledge of many roof systems, built through decades of hands-on field work.
Motivation:
Guided by strong customer service values such as compassion, respect, and honesty.
Work at 5K:
Values the professionalism, strong earning potential, and solid work/life balance the company provides.
Advice to New Team Members:
"Put in the work and you will reap the reward"
Personal Interests:
Enjoys hunting, fishing, hiking, and raising livestock including beef cattle and chickens. Also has an interest in fine china, crystal glassware, and silverware. Prefers the beach over the mountains.

Meet Johnny
Service Manager
Role:
Service Manager who oversees all service calls and focuses on ensuring customers are supported and satisfied each day.
Experience:
More than 6 years in the industry, all with 5K. Working in the field for approximately 6 years laid a great foundation for his role as Service Manager.
Career Highlights:
A standout project for him was helping replace the shingles on his parents’ home. It was a meaningful way for him to use his skills for the people who matter most.
Expertise:
He brings positivity, versatility, and strong team support to his work. He continually builds his knowledge, refines workflow strategies, and looks for ways to improve day‑to‑day operations.
Motivation:
He stays on track by setting personal goals daily, weekly, and monthly. This helps him keep moving forward in his role, especially as he works toward meeting 5K’s service goals for the year.
Work at 5K:
He values the dedication of his coworkers and enjoys the innovation and passion many team members bring to the company. He also appreciates the annual Christmas party, which offers a great chance to connect with everyone.
Advice to New Team Members:
“Stay positive and do not be hesitant to ask for help.”
Personal Interests:
Spends time with friends and family, plays basketball, and enjoys hanging out with his two cats—something that often surprises people. And when choosing between pizza or tacos, tacos win.

Meet Marsha
Administrative Assistant
Role:
Administrative Assistant focused on streamlining internal office workflow and stepping in wherever support is needed.
Experience:
Recently joined both the 5K team and the roofing industry. Previously served as a Director of Rehab in a long‑term care setting, leading and managing team operations.
Career Highlights:
A meaningful highlight is being able to help others reach their personal goals by applying the skills she has developed throughout her career.
Expertise:
Detail‑oriented with strong interpersonal communication skills. Skilled in a variety of computer applications, document preparation, and data entry. Her background as a medical professional provides a strong foundation in confidentiality, accuracy, and working well under pressure, bringing a unique blend of administrative strengths.
Motivation:
Fueled by coffee and to‑do lists. Checking items off brings a sense of accomplishment and keeps her focused and productive.
Work at 5K:
After coming from a large corporate environment, she truly values the close‑knit, family‑oriented culture at 5K Commercial Roofing. She is also looking forward to this year’s company outing at Cedar Point.
Advice to New Team Members:
“Don’t worry—we were all new at one point. You’ll get the hang of it, and we are all here to help each other.”
Personal Interests:
Enjoys spending time with family and friends and with her German Shepherd, Sarge. Loves gardening—both vegetables and flowers—along with walking and getting lost in a good book.

Meet Michelle
Bookkeeping
Role:
Bookkeeping Professional handling QuickBooks tasks and expense reconciliation.
Experience:
Four years with 5K and a former business owner.
Career Highlights:
Successfully operated a business with a strong focus on customer service.
Expertise:
Detail‑oriented and committed to delivering quality service. Known for catching errors before they impact clients and ensuring smooth, efficient operations.
Motivation:
Finds satisfaction in staying productive, turning tasks into meaningful results, and seeing projects through from start to finish.
Work at 5K:
Appreciates the family‑oriented atmosphere where everyone is motivated to succeed and proud of their work. Shared goals help bring the team together. She also looks forward to the annual Christmas party.

Meet Kollin
Sales
Role:
Currently transitioning into a Sales role while training my replacement to take over my Finance Management responsibilities.
Experience:
I have been with 5K for 5 years.
Career Highlights:
Moved into the Finance Manager role after spending 4 years working in the field.
Expertise:
I bring a unique combination of field experience and financial knowledge, and I’m now actively training to become a Sales Technician. My goal is to strengthen my technical understanding and be a strong contributor to the sales team.
Motivation:
I stay focused by prioritizing one task at a time and breaking each goal into smaller steps to make progress more manageable.
Work at 5K:
As one of the Ks in 5K, I value the strong family‑oriented culture. It creates a motivating environment while still maintaining a relaxed, supportive atmosphere.
Advice to New Team Members:
“Be yourself and be coachable.”
Personal Interests:
I enjoy spending time with my dogs and family, playing basketball, and lifting weights.
Breaking Bad is my all‑time favorite show, and I once had a solid collection of Jordan sneakers.
Meet Mark
Sales & Field Supervisor
Role:
Commercial and Residential Roofing Salesperson and Field Supervisor.
Experience:
Brings more than 47 years of construction industry experience, including 30 years as the owner and operator of Weathertight Construction. Joined the 5K team in January 2025.
Career Highlights:
A standout project in his career was the copper steeple installation at Our Lady Queen of Peace.
Expertise:
His expertise is grounded in quality craftsmanship developed over decades of hands‑on work.
Motivation:
Staying motivated comes from getting the job done correctly the first time. Doing things right means more time to enjoy life.
Work at 5K:
Appreciates the team of good, quality people who work together toward shared goals. One personal goal for the future is improving computer skills to increase efficiency with paperwork.
Advice to New Team Members:
“Do the job correct the first time.”
Personal Interests:
Enjoys golfing and gardening, and previously had an interest in auto racing. Prefers coffee over tea, the beach over the mountains, and summer over winter.

Meet Dan
Sales
Role:
In sales, I meet with customers, prepare project quotes, coordinate with suppliers, and work closely with the team to keep projects moving smoothly. And yes—I make time to enjoy lunch too.
Experience:
I joined the 5K team this summer, but I’ve been in the roofing, siding, and gutter industry since 1998. My hands-on background helps me approach projects with efficiency and confidence.
Career Highlights:
A standout moment in my career was completing a full installation of wood shake siding. It was a challenging job that allowed me to showcase craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Expertise:
I’m naturally talkative, which helps me connect easily with clients and build strong relationships with the team.
Motivation:
I stay motivated by learning new things and finding opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.
Work at 5K:
I appreciate the family-like atmosphere at 5K, where everyone is willing to help. Being part of a supportive team means a lot, and I’m excited to continue finding my place within it.
Advice to New Team Members:
“Be open to learning new things, ask questions, share information and ideas, and be on time.”
Personal Interests:
Outside of work, I enjoy supporting my kids at their sporting events and plays, and I love traveling to new places. I’m definitely more of a dog person than a cat person. If I could choose a superpower, I’d pick super strength over invisibility. My favorite podcast is
Drink Champs, and I’ll admit—I’ve shed a tear during a powerful movie or song.
Meet Andy
Sales Support & Projection Coordination
Role:
My role combines sales support with hands-on project coordination.
Experience:
With 33 years in the trades, I’ve built extensive hands-on experience starting at age 14. That background now guides my work in both sales and project management.
Career Highlights:
The Geauga Maintenance Barn Project stands out as a major milestone, marking my first time managing a project of that size.
Expertise:
I bring dedication, determination, and a practical, hands-on mindset to each project. My focus is on doing the job right and ensuring smooth progress from beginning to end.
Motivation:
Motivation comes naturally to me, and I apply that energy to every task and project I take on.
Work at 5K:
5K is a place where I can grow personally and professionally. The team-oriented environment makes it easy to learn from others and contribute in meaningful ways. I’m always looking for opportunities to improve, including sharpening my computer skills.
Advice to New Team Members:
“Ask questions, stay busy, and be positive.”
Personal Interests:
I enjoy hiking, including summiting Emerald Ridge at Mt. Rainier, and staying active outdoors. My favorite book is
The Art of the Deal. I also love watching my kids play their favorite sports and spending quality time with family.


Meet Drake
Sales
Role:
Sales, primarily focused on estimating new projects and meeting with customers.
Experience:
Over 9 years in the industry, all with 5K Commercial Roofing. He began working with the company while still in high school.
Career Highlights:
No single project stands above the rest—he takes pride in each one.
Expertise:
He brings a positive attitude and a continually growing understanding of the industry. Something many people don’t know is that he graduated from Miami University in 2022 with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management and eCommerce.
Motivation:
He stays motivated by setting personal goals that contribute to the company’s success. This year’s goal is to generate more work for 5K than he did last year.
Work at 5K:
He values 5K’s family‑oriented culture, where everyone knows one another and works well together. He especially enjoys the yearly fishing trip to Canada and the company Christmas party.
Advice to New Team Members:
“Bring a positive attitude each day and be an effective communicator.”
Personal Interests:
He enjoys traveling and spending time with friends when he’s not working. Given the choice between owning a dog or a cat, he prefers dogs.

Meet Kelly
Human Resources
Role:
Office and Human Resources Manager overseeing HR processes with a focus on employee well‑being and ensuring the team is supported.
Experience:
Transitioned from a travel coordinating manager role into HR and office management more than nine years ago.
Career Highlights:
A key highlight has been developing and strengthening 5K Commercial Roofing’s Safety Program.
Expertise:
She has a well‑rounded background across several areas of business, and one of her ongoing goals is to continue enhancing the company’s safety program.
Motivation:
